ヤクルトは1日、西武からトレードで山野辺翔内野手を獲得したと発表した。背番号は「37」となる。
山野辺は2018年のドラフト3位で西武に入団。今季は5試合に出場して3打数無安打。2軍では14試合に出場して打率.258、0本塁打1打点だった。
西武も山野辺の移籍を発表。山野辺は球団を通じ「びっくりしている、というのが正直な気持ちです。スワローズに行っても変わらず元気よく自分らしくいたいと思います。プレーの面では、春のキャンプから取り組んできたことを試合で発揮して、チームの勝利に貢献したいです。ライオンズの試合では、思ったような活躍をすることはできませんでしたが、ベンチでの元気な姿を応援してくださるファンの皆さんとの思い出は、星の数ほどありすぎて持っていくのが大変です。ライオンズに入団してから7年間、本当にありがとうございました」とコメントした。（Full-Count編集部）
